With baby boomers starting to reach retirement age, more and more are recognizing the fun of RV travel. The number of people in the over 55 age group who own recreational vehicles is increasing, as is the amount of time that they spend on the road. It is not uncommon for retirees to load up the RV and head to warm and sunny destinations during the winter months, often living in their RV for months at a time.

Don’t underestimate the value of creature comforts while traveling. More than likely, you have noticed that at the end of a long vacation, you often feel exhausted instead of renewed. There are obviously lots of reasons for this fact, but many of those reasons can be directly traced to the wear and tear of rushing from place to place, not eating properly, lacking proper sleep and generally being out of your element. When you are traveling in your own RV, many, if not most, of those issues simply don’t exist.

When you first buy your RV, you may not be thinking about storage. Obviously, there are lots of things that you will be considering. After all, there are a wide variety of purchases that need to be made including the RV mattress for your bed, food and entertainment options, decorations, etc. However, once you start traveling in your recreational vehicle, you will quickly realize that storage is one of your primary concerns. Who can have a good time when they are in the midst of a bunch of clutter?

When you are driving at night, it is never a good idea to push yourself too hard. This fact is even truer when it comes to driving a recreational vehicle. Some people are under the mistaken impression that RV space is limitless, but this just isn’t the case. RVs are clearly much larger than what the normal traveler is accustomed to, but they are not infinitely large.

Yet, for those of us who are retired, there is the very real option of going wherever we want when we feel like doing so.
