A vacation in a hotel is great, if you have the money for room service and don’t mind the other tourists; a self catering chalet is better, but you are still stuck with the same view for 2 weeks, which might be good at first, but after that long it could get boring; so what do you do? The perfect answer for an all round vacation is a motorhome getaway!

Motorhome vacations are extremely popular in the United States; so much so that there are over 6 million registered RVs (recreational vehicles) there. Right now you are probably thinking why are so many people attracted to the idea of a motorhome vacation? Well, I will try and explain.

Convenience – A recreational vehicle can be parked up and lived in almost anywhere. That means that you can drive your holiday home to a fantastic beach or to the top of a mountain range, park up and enjoy the serenity of your surroundings. Because you don’t have to find and book hotels, you are free to leave if you want a change, whenever you want!

Cost – The cost factor is certainly one of the primary reasons why so many people choose motorhome vacations. Although there are so many registered RVs in the USA, many people still prefer to rent one. The cost of renting a recreational vehicle will vary from around $100 per day, up to and over $500, all depending on the size of the vehicle and the fixtures and fittings it comes with. Other costs you will have to account for are fuel, tax and possibly a mileage fee, depending on the rental company.

Comfort – The comfort level that an RV can offer is really only limited to your budget. Modern day recreational vehicles come equipped with sofas, a double bed (maybe 2 even!), LCD televisions, a kitchen, a bathroom and much more. Some vehicles even have storage for other toys such as all terrain vehicles, surfboards, bicycles and jet skis.

There is no difficult planning involved in motorhome vacations; you can go where you like, when you like, with (almost) whoever you like! You can load up your motorhome with clothes and equipment, drive to a beautiful lake and never be far from the convenience of your home from home. So don’t worry if you cant afford flights for your family to the Seychelles, Lake Michigan is just up the highway and the kids will surely have more fun there in an RV!
